Cape Cod
Sea Call Farm & Reuben’s Pond
Everyone has their summer traditions: ours is going to Cape Cod. Because we were planning to buy a new house we couldn’t exactly afford the vacation we would have liked, but that’s ok! We are lucky enough to vacation at all!
So off we went on a long, painful drive through Connecticut on I-95 (seriously, worst. drive. ever. I dread it year after year) for a quick weekend on the Cape.
I wasn’t able to do a lot of hiking or exploring on such a quick trip, but managed to get both beach time and woodland time during the stay.
I had always wanted to explore Sea Call Farms, which is a locally run co-op garden. It is part of both the Orleans Conservation Trust as well as the Orleans Pond Coalition.
I was very nervous about what I could and could not explore here, so I only looked at the community garden. I would have loved to walk up the road to the pond, but I think part of it may have been private property….? I wasn’t sure and there was no one to ask. So I just stuck to walking around the garden.
And then in the morning of our last day, I woke up early and walked around Rueben’s Pond, which was a part of the Icehouse & Ruben’s Pond park that I didn’t see on my last visit.
It was a short hike and I had a long drive ahead of me, so there aren’t a ton of pictures. Not that you can really get any pictures: the pond is so overgrown that you can barely see it through. But I tried! Anything for you, dear reader.
